The Exploding Chewing Gum is one of the prank items Frank sells at the Palace of Pranks in the episode, "Pranks a Lot." It causes the head of anyone who chews it to explode, with only the bone left. It costs $9.95.
SpongeBob and Patrick had gone to the Palace of Pranks in order to find some gags to play on people. Exploding Gum is first seen when Frank showed SpongeBob and Patrick different kinds of gag toys. Frank manages to trick Patrick into chewing a piece of the Exploding Gum, which literally blows his head up. It is not seen again after that.
